The alternatives are one engineered wide-span system or several bays with a post or mullion between them. Which is right depends on the span, what is above it, and whether you mind a division in the view. We will show you both at the measure rather than defaulting to whichever is easier to fit.
Width is not a hard cutoff, it is a set of trade-offs that get worse together. As the span grows the fabric roll gets heavier, the motor works harder, and any sag across the middle becomes visible. Past a point, one screen is technically possible and practically a bad idea.
The alternative is bays: two or three screens with a post or mullion between them, each with its own roll and motor, controlled together so they behave like one system.
A single span buys an uninterrupted view and costs more, with a heavier system that is more disruptive to service. Bays put a vertical division in the view and give you smaller, lighter, more serviceable units, and one failure does not take the whole opening out.
We price both at the measure rather than defaulting to whichever fits easier. What the structure above the opening can carry often decides it, particularly on pergolas and freestanding covers. Synchronised control across bays is a motor specification, and the rest of the build is unchanged.
